What is KIDS RUN THE OC?
The Kids Run the OC Program is a 10-12 week program that promotes an active and healthy lifestyle to kids to help prevent the onset of child obesity.
Why Should my kids be involved?
Did you know that healthy, fit Kids get better grades and test scores AND are more likely to become healthy teens and adults?
In 2019, Kids Run the OC was named the top youth running program in the nation by Running USA, and the Final Mile event hosted 170 schools in OC and had 9000 participants.
Here is a little more information about the program:
- The KROC program helps pre-adolescent kids and families become more physically fit in order to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Students from each participating school will be led through a popular and fun training program at their school by an OC Marathon certified parent or teacher volunteer.
- By the end of the program each student will have accumulated the equivalent of 25.2 miles of fun activity and will be ready to finish their own Marathon by completing the “Final Mile” at the Kids Run The OC event next May 2nd, during the OC Marathon Running Festival weekend.
- The program is completely free to schools, and the only cost is the final mile event on Saturday, May 2nd. Scholarships are available for the final mile event.
